We asked five AI assistants which surrogacy agency software to use

106 answers from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok to the questions agency owners ask, and what they reveal about how AI recommends software.

Short answer: AI assistants do not agree on surrogacy agency software. Across 106 answers collected on 20 October 2026, the products named most were STEPS, Zoho, SurroHub, Orchid and Salesforce; the assistants named different products for the same questions, changed their answers between runs, and drew mostly on software vendors’ own websites. Use an AI shortlist as a starting point, then check reviews, references and a live demo.

What we did

On 20 October 2026 we asked five AI assistants eight questions that surrogacy and egg donor agency owners ask when they look for software, four times over, with web search switched on for every assistant. That gave 106 complete answers. For each one we recorded which products it named and in what order, and which websites it cited. The full method, and our conflict of interest, are at the end.

1. The assistants disagree with each other

Ask the same question of two assistants and you can get two different shortlists. How often an assistant named SurroHub ranged from most answers to none:

AssistantAnswersNamed SurroHubAverage position when namedCited surrohub.io
ChatGPT3225 (78%)2.626
Gemini107 (70%)3.97
Grok85 (62%)3.45
Claude329 (28%)1.220
Perplexity240 (0%)—1

Answers also change from one run to the next. Claude named SurroHub in 4 of 8 answers in one run and in 1 of 8 in another, on the same questions. One answer from one assistant is a snapshot, not a ranking.

2. Purpose-built platforms come up more than general CRMs

85 of the 106 answers named at least one platform built for surrogacy or egg donation; 61 named at least one general CRM such as Salesforce, HubSpot or Zoho, often as a second-best option that needs customising. 14 answers named no product at all and explained the process instead.

The products named most often across all 106 answers:

OVOSS10

Zoho is counted on its own, and is also the platform STEPS is built on, which partly explains how often it appears.

3. Who gets named first

When an assistant gives a list, the first name carries the most weight. The products most often named first:

4. Assistants read vendors' own websites more than anything else

An answer drew on about 13 web sources on average. The sources cited most often were software vendors describing their own products. Of the ten most-cited sites, seven belong to vendors (SurroHub among them):

The most-cited site, infertilityportal.com, belongs to the company that sells STEPS. It pairs its product pages with a large library of surrogacy articles, and assistants cite those articles when they answer general questions.

What this means if you are choosing software

Method and disclosure

Disclosure: SurroHub makes surrogacy and egg donor agency software and is one of the products measured here. We collected the answers with the monitoring tool we built to track how AI assistants describe SurroHub. We publish the results as measured, including where SurroHub is rarely or never named.

Frequently asked questions

Which AI assistant recommends surrogacy agency software most consistently?

None of them consistently. In our 106 answers the assistants disagreed with each other, and the same assistant changed its answer between runs on the same day.

Where do AI assistants get their information about surrogacy software?

Mostly from software vendors’ own websites. Seven of the ten most-cited sites in our study belonged to vendors; the rest were Wikipedia, Reddit and independent surrogacy resources.

Is this study independent?

No. SurroHub makes surrogacy and egg donor agency software and is one of the products measured. We publish the full method and every result as measured, including where SurroHub is not named.
